The first installment in an episodic release structure for their forthcoming LP You Mark Me the Deepest, “Black Wings Hunt” offers a powerful glimpse into the alluringly textured heart of the Brindisi, Italy duo Nightcrush. Finding an elegant yet muscular crossroads of romanticism and darkness, “Black Wings Hunt” perfectly captures the band’s seamless unification of industrial and synthwave with shoegaze and dream pop. Melodious synths intermingle with vocals that seem to echo from a place just out of reach, delivering an ethereal dreaminess that is tethered to robust, propulsive beats that bind everything together into a uniquely hypnotic stylistic marriage. Most of You Mark Me the Deepest's tracks will be released individually, like chapters of a book that offer listeners new insight with every turn of the page. I was fortunate enough to be chosen by DKFM for a song choice during "Drowned In A Sea of Sound", and this was it! "India" fuses vocal and guitar harmonies with a psychedelic flare that is just perfectly rendered. One of the best songs that I have ever heard since the early days of Shoegaze in the 90s.
